"No Straw November" is a movement by the Jr. Ocean Guardians, an organization started by 16-year-old Shelby O'Neil, whose goal is to spread education about the plastic problem in the ocean. There are 150 million pounds of plastic floating in the ocean right now. Straws are one of the most common pollutants. The goal of No Straw November is to make people aware about how many straws are used and thrown away in a single month. Palm Beach Marriott SInger Island Beach Resort has decided to take part in No Straw November by eliminating plastic straws from their bars and restaurant altogether.   Help keep Singer Island the beautiful haven that it is by joining the community to clean the beach tomorrow. The island is lined with luxury condos for a reason- the oceanfront is pristine. The sand is soft and white and the water is clear and clean. Help us keep it that way by picking up any scraps lying around. Sometimes tourists don't know the harmful effects of leaving debris on the beach and especially since this island is vital to the Loggerhead sea turtle population, we want to make sure there are no foreign objects anywhere near the water. Join dozens of others tomorrow from 9 - 11 a.m. to walk the beach in the morning and scoop up any trash in sight. It's going to be a nice day so wear your suit and cool off in the crisp, refreshing water…

Every week on Singer Island, the Sailfish Marina Resort hosts sunset celebrations- evenings of art, music, food, and beautiful sunsets. The event takes place every Thursday from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. ouside on the deck in front of their dockage. Enjoy magnificent views of boats while you listen to live music and stroll down the harborside. More than 30 vendors come to display their hand-made arts and crafts. There are things like wooden sculptures, blown glass, paintings, pottery, jewelry, and much more.   Clark Rodriguez, an area native and Jimmy Buffet aficionado, plays live music to put you in the tropical mood. Santana Cigars on Singer Island is an artisan shop owned by father and son Fidel and Jesi Santana, 4th and 5th generation cigar rollers respectively. They opened the shop in 2009 after a life of rolling in the Dominican Republic. A master roller, Fidel has been in the industry since the age of 9. By 16, he was rolling premium cigars with Tabacarela del Norte and by 20 he was in with luxury cigar brand Davidoff. Now, at Sanatana Cigars, Fidel and Jesi use their skills to make their cigars in-house with dozens of blends, shapes, and sizes to choose from. While Santana's is not necessarily a "cigar bar" (because they don't serve liquor), they do have a small, simple, earthy interior that makes a great place to relax. Patrons also acclaim Fidel and Jesi

Even though we are surrounded by water here in Florida and have miles of coastline in Palm Beach County, surfing isn't something you can just do at any time of any day. You have to have the right conditions including the tide, wind, and waves, and you need a good spot. While Singer Island is relatively small, it has a surf spot that many locals keep an eye on when they check the surf report.

Ocean Reef Park is a little section on the island that has some nice peaks and fast lefts. The north end by the lifeguard tower has pretty consistent waves while the south end waves can have better form. The waves here are mostly about fun because they're usually pretty short so head-high waves is when it's really worthwhile. The locals are also really cool and

The free Lagoon Fest will be held at Flagler Drive in downtown West Palm Beach from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. The lagoon, which runs 20 miles beginning at Singer Island and ending in Boynton Beach, is an indispensable estuary for humans and wildlife alike. It has been dredged to create significant ports like the Port of Palm Beach, which contributes $260 million in local business revenue annually, and also for the purpose of mixing salt water from the ocean with freshwater from canals to allow mangroves, sea grass, oyster beds, sea turtles, and 250 other marine species to thrive. In the past century however, heavy boat traffic, marinas, and a power plant have…
