A popular golf club for Singer Island residents, the North Palm Beach Country Club is making progress on upgrades to their clubhouse and course.

The old clubhouse was built in 1963 and had some expensive maintainance problems because of its age. In June, the clubhouse was demolished, and now a new 37,000-square-foot, $18 million clubhouse will be finished by next summer. Crews already have the floor and foundation laid with speedy progress.

When the clubhouse is completed it will include a banquet hall, a restaurant, a pro shop, locker room and golf cart storage. It will overlook the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course that was redesigned in 2006. The par-71 course is also currently closed for new sod installments, but will reopen in December.

Hey Singer Island and North Palm Beach residents, good news! There's a new draft house in the heart of North Palm and it's going to be your new favorite spot.

The Draft House Bar & Grille opened a little less than a month ago and it's already buzzing every night of the week. That's partly because it was opened by Randy Epstein, who ran the North Palm Beach Country Club restaurant until it closed for renovation in April. Most of the staff from the Country Club came over to the Draft House with Epstein, and so did clientele. The new eatery is in the location of the old Hog Snappers, which closed in July- it was a quick turnaround.

The Draft House Bar & Grille has a menu of small plates, soups & salads, flatbreads, burgers, cheese steaks, sandwiches,

Local resident, Matt Lerer, caught a pretty cool video of some tarpon chasing a mullet run on Friday. Tarpon are sought-after game fish for avid anglers, and while they're not good to eat, they still put up a good fight and are fun to catch and release. While peak tarpon season is during the summertime, you can spot the tarpon chasing large schools of mullet well into fall.

Lerer's video shows a huge school of mullet with quite a few large tarpon hunting for some lunch. Check it out on the news here: https://www.wpbf.com/article/drone-video-shows-sharks-large-school-of-fish/23143244.

So you're thinking of moving to an island paradise in South Florida, but may be wondering "Is it too hot for me?" or "What about hurricanes?" First off the answer is no, it's never too hot when you have a refreshingly cool ocean in your backyard- but let's talk a little bit about the weather for those concerned.

Singer Island has a pretty consistent weather pattern when you look at the charts over the past 100 years. The area averages a high of 77 (F) and low of 60 in the winter months with a high of 89 and low of 75 in the summer. The summer months are also when it's the rainy season since the Caribbean hurricane season is June-November. Singer Island sees about 7 inches of rainfall during this time period, which is a good thing because it

John D. MacArthur Beach State Park is one of the most well-preserved natural areas on Florida's east coast. Located at the north end of Singer Island, it's another beautiful bonus for islanders and North Palm Beach residents.

Did you know that aside from Hawaii, Florida has more kinds of plants and animals than anywhere else in the country? The ecosystems at John D. MacArthur are full of native and some exotic plants and animals that you'll enjoy exploring along shaded nature trails, estuaries and at the nature center on the preserve.

After passing through a maritime hammock containing large, beautiful fig trees, the park trail follows an estuary out to a boardwalk which crosses over the Lake Worth Cove and leads to a unspoiled strip of beach.
