Mike Nicklaus, Patrick Kelly, and Dan Allen will be amongst the golfers teeing up Friday morning at the Cure NF with Jack golf tournament at Lost Tree Golf Club.

The tournament will get underway at 9am with a shotgun start and is being held to benefit Neurofibromatosis. Neurofibromatosis is a common genetic disorder where nerve tissue grows tumors which can damage and compress nerves and other tissues. The tournament is named after Jack Burke. The now 11 year old has suffered from Neurofibromatosis since he was 2. All proceeds from the event will benefit those who suffer from cancer and learning disabilities.

On Saturday, September 17th people all over the world will gather at their local beaches with one goal in mind: to keep the shorelines free of trash and debris. That's because, that Saturday is International Coastal Cleanup Day.

International Coastal Cleanup Day is the world's largest one-day volunteer effort to clean up the marine environment. Held every September, volunteers from over 100 countries descend on local beaches, rivers, lakes, and canals to show their commitment to cleaner waterways. The event is sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy, the world's largest organization focusing exclusively on the health of the marine environment.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to kayak, MacArthur park has you covered!

This Sunday, September 4th MacArthur park will be having a land-based Learn to Kayak class that will provide beginners with the necessary skills for kayaking. The one hour class is free with park admission and gets started at 12 noon.

On Saturday, September 10th MacArthur Park will be holding a Nature Photography Workshop

The workshop will run from 9am to 1pm and will be run by local professional photographers who will provide technical and artistic instruction. The workshop is open to, and perfect for, photographers of all ages and skillsets. Everyone in attendance is required to bring their own camera and camera equipment to the workshop.

3800 Ocean, the premier restaurant at the Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Resort and one of the top restaurants on the island, recently welcomed a new executive chef and will soon be offering a revamped menu.

Gustavo Calderon took over as the executive chef in June and is now in the process of updating the resort's food and drink offerings alongside current general manager, and former executive chef Larry LaValley. The goal is to unveil the brand new menu in October, just in time for the 2016 season.

Calderon has stated that his goal is to further enhance the restaurant’s culinary experience and menu offerings at not just 3800 Ocean, but also the casual dining areas at the pool and beach by creating strong relationships with local farmers. The

With it being turtle hatching season, Loggerhead Park in Juno Beach is offering a Biologist Beach Walk program every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday through the end of September.

The program is an opportunity for the Loggerhead Marinelife Center educators to give the public insight into their research and conservation efforts. People on the walk will learn about the different species of seat turtles, the tricks to identifying turtle tracks, and sometimes even get to see a sea turtle hatch straight from the nest.

Admission is $12 and registration for the walks is online only.  Each walk is capped at 15 people and is open to everyone 8 years old or older. All participants must be able tp walk up to a half mile in soft sand. To register, visit

Have you ever wanted to learn how to surf? Ever watch people shredding it up on the ocean and think, "that looks fun!"? Well, now is your chance to give it a try!

On August 27th, MacArthur park is hosting a Introduction to Surfing class. The ranger led course will focus on the basics of surfing and include lessons on both land and water. The class is open to anyone 12 years of age or older (children under 18 must be accompnaied by an adult in the water). The class begins at 10am and, while it is free with park admission, reservations are required.

On Thursday, Palm Beach County dropped "Andrea's Reef", a 20-foot by 15-foot artificial reef weighing 60,000 pounds, about one mile north of the Lake Worth Inlet and three-quarters of a mile east of Ocean Reef Park.

The mermaid, which was originally supposed to be placed offshore at the Breakers but moved, was molded and sculpted after three time breast cancer survivor Andrea Torrente. Thomas McDonald designed the statue with the help of students from the Riviera Beach Maritime Academy. The reed also includes Roman columns, a treasure chest, sea turtles, and stingrays.

The Conch Stomp Band will be performing their unique brand of bluegrass music this Sunday, Ausgust 14th from 1 to 3pm at MacArthur Park. The concert is free with park admission. The band, which is made up of Gerry Axelrod, Stan Krieger, Joyce Anderson, Willie Allen and John Anderson, perform "twangy, hartfelt music, so redolent of Old Florida".

The award winning 3800 Ocean restaurant in the Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Resort is getting a new executive chef. Gustavo Calderon was named the new executive chef, returning to Florida after spending the last two years doing culinary work abroad. Calderon replaces Larry LaValley who is the new assistant general manager.

Prior to taking the Executive Chef role at the Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island, Calderon has worked for Ritz-Carlton hotels in Cancun, Naples, and most recently Bahrain, where he served as executive sous chef. In total, Calderon has over 10 years of professional experience successfully leading kitchens of cooks and sous-chefs. For Calderon and LaValley, it is a reunion of sorts.
