Bluewater Babes Fish for a Cure Tournament

Posted by Amanda Hicks on Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 at 10:45am.

Female anglers! It's time to gather your team and register for the 10th Annual Blue Water Babes Fish for a Cure Tournament to raise money for local ovarian and breast cancer patients in need of financial assistance.

The Blue Water Babes are a 501c3 non profit whose devotion is to helping local cancer patients, and hosting some awesome fundraisers in order to do so. The Fish for a Cure Tournament always has a great turn out and is so much fun for everyone.

It's Florida's largest female angler tournament and is a festive mix of fishing, boat decorating, cocktails and costume contests. The event is held at Sailfish Marina on Singer Island beginning with a kick-off party on Friday night and a full day of fishing and awards on Saturday (October 5th & 6th).

Teams are $500 to register before September 20th and $600 starting on the 21st so it's smart to sign your boat up early. Teams include a captain, first mate, and four female anglers with the cost including team party passes for Friday and Saturday nights' parties at the Marina. Those not fishing can purchase party passes separately which are $60 and include two free Tito's drinks and a buffet dinner from the Sailfish Marina Resort restaurant.

The tournament will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place anglers for KDW as well as top female angler and top team for Billfish and an award for the person who catches the heaviest meatfish over all (Snapper/Grouper/Cobia/Blackfin Tuna).

This contest is also awarding the best decorated boats and costumes. On Friday night, boats will be judged by local celebrities and some ideas include mermaid, hula girl, and pirate themes. Angler costumes are encouraged as well as water guns for fun. The people's costume awards will be for best overall, most outrageous, best male mate costume, best use of pink, most energetic, best newcomer and most glamorous.

Tito's Handmade Vodka is the title sponsor so there will also be a cocktail contest on Friday night where you make a cocktail and the best one wins. At Saturday's party expect some awesome raffle prizes and fireworks over the water.

The Fish for a Cure Tournament is going to be loads of fun once again and it's for an excellent cause. You can find more about how the Blue Water Babes helps women in our community on their website and register for the tourney online here. Click on the hyperlinks for the schedule and rules
