Baseball Is Back

As the calendar gets ready to turn to March, baseball is back in South Florida. With the addition of two new teams in 2017, its safe to say that baseball in South Florida is not just back, but better than ever

On Tuesday, Feb 28th, Major League Baseball makes its return to West Palm Beach for the first time since the Atlanta Braves and Montreal Expos played their final game in the West Palm Beach Municipal Stadium in March of 1997. The Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals will open the brand new Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, the sprawling Spring Training facility and 160-acre city park located between Millitary Trail and Haverhill Road in West Palm Beach.

Those two teams bring even more action to Palm Beach County, joining the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals who call Abacoa and Rodger Dean Stadium home during the Spring Training season.

If you are coming into town for some great baseball, the Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Resort and Spa has you covered for your lodging needs. Their special spring training travel package runs through March 31st and includes a condo-style suite with kitchen and washer dryer, breakfast every morning and baseball themed swag. Rates start at $477 per night.

New Condo Proposal For Singer Island

Singer Island is already going to look a little different with the additionalsw of VistaBlue and 5000 North Ocean. A new third development could soon be in the works as well.

The Riviera Beach City Planning and Zoning Board is reviewing a proposal for a new condo tower that would be named Singer Island Gateway. The 259,800-square-foot, eight-story project would be located at 2525 and 2429 Lake Drive on the Intracoastal side of the island, just south of the Blue Herron Bridge. The development would consist of 135 one and two bedroom units, a pool and amenity deck and a 16 slip marina that would be available for public lease.

The application estimates contruction costs will run around $55 million. The next step for the proposal will be the Community Redevelopment Agency and city council.
