Sailfish Marina Looking To Expand Docks

Sailfish Marina has been a staple on Singer Island, operating in some capacity since the 1940s. The marina currently has three docks that have a total of 92 slips. Now, the marina is looking to make some changtes that would make it easier for larger yachts and vessels to get in and out of the marina.

According to a report in the Palm Beach Post, Sailfish is looking to spend about $3 million to replace the 28-slip north dock with one that has 14 larger slips designed to handle yachts and other large boats. While there has been some pushback from neighboring developments, the marina has recieved approval from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the County Commissioner has stated that Sailfish is within its legal rights to proceed with the expansion.

"We see it (the new dock) as a benefit for the county and the town of Palm Beach Shores and the boating community,” Sailfish director of operations Bryan Cheney told the paper.

The project is currently awaiting the approval from the town of Palm Beach Shores, where the marina is located. If it goes through, four of the 14 slips would be 75-foot slips.
