The Great American Cleanup is a nationwide beach cleanup in honor of Earth Day. Next Saturday, people all over the country will head to the beach with a bag and gloves to pick up litter that pollutes our oceans and kills marine life.

Singer Island is an important beach to keep clean because many Loggerheads and other sea turtles use it as a nesting ground. The tiny island sees a whole 5 percent of the Loggerhead population and last year the Loggerhead Marinelife Center recorded 4,000 nests.

You can help keep our beaches beautiful by participating in a beach cleanup with local non-profits like the Friends of John D. MacArthur Beach State Park. They'll be be participating in the Great American Cleanup and hosting a beach clean on Saturday, April

The complex was named after the Caribbean island of Martinique for their similarities like clear water, year-round beach days, perfect weather and a small islander population. With amenities like private beach space, heated pools and panoramic oceanfront views, you'll feel like you're in paradise every day (only you don't have to worry about a 4,700-foot volcano erupting, unlike the Martinique in the West Indies).

Other features include an elevated hot tub, fully equipped gym, sauna, tennis courts, a luxurious lounge, billiard room, full library and a restaurant.

Hakai Magazine, a multiple award-winning coastal science magazine based in Canada, has a feature story in this month's edition about the massive mullet migration off the coast of Singer Island.

The article is called "Mullet Mania" and it includes high-def photos of mullet and its predators all along the island. Photographer and author, Michael Patrick O'Neill, documented using his drone and underwater camera which allows you to view the sealife from a perspective other than the beach. You can see just how many fish there really are in the water by viewing the article here.

All along the Florida coast, the mullet leave inland estuaries and rivers and head out to sea every year. They spawn offshore in emormous schools, which resemble an oil

Alfred Hitchcock, one of the most iconic filmmakers of all time, has a forgotten history with Singer Island.

Hitchcock's glory was revealed in the 1950s and 60s with his staple mystery movies like "Psycho," "Rear Window," "The Birds" and "Strangers on a Train." He also rapidly became a television star from his comedic introductions on the series "Alfred Hitchcock Presents."

It was rumored at the time that the celebrity had visits to Singer Island, which brought many of his fans and paparazzi to the area for a chance to see him and get his autograph. But Hitchcock only visited Palm Beach County one time in his life- and it was before his fame in 1939 with his wife Alma. So the question arises: Where did the story come from that Hitchcock could

The Palm Beach Shores St. Patrick's Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 17th, at 11 a.m. on the south end of Singer Island. It starts at the town's community center (90 Edwards lane) and ends on S. Ocean Avenue. Head over to the 28th annual parade for a day full of floats, music, beer, food and fun!

The idea to have a celebration on the island started in 1989 after a small group of friends went to the nearest St. Patrick's Day celebration, the Lake Worth Parade, where they jumped in on the march. They had so much fun they decided it was time to have one of their own in the town of Palm Beach Shores! In 1990 they gathered a board of 8 people to hold the first ever Annual Palm Beach Shores Parade. The Grand Marshal, Mickey O'Brien, towed a

Just over the Blue Heron Bridge, the Brewhouse Gallery is a trendy spot for Singer Island residents to go to. It's a unique place incorporating an art gallery, live music venue, bar and restaurant.

The Brewhouse is open Tuesday-Sunday in the afternoon and evening. It hangs art from 18 local artists, changing pieces every 3 months. The art is on display and for sale, commission free. The concept is to revolutionize modern art galleries- boosting foot traffic, exposure, and ultimately sales.
